AI Agents: Attacker or Defender? A Live Security Demo

As AI automation gets more powerful, it raises a hard question for every team that ships software: will these systems strengthen our security, or just exploit our weaknesses faster?

Our twelfth GOAB Startup Mastery Series session and fourth AI Show and Tell tackled it head-on, with a live look at a builder's screen.

AI Show and Tell event poster

The presenter

Il Shin Jeon, Founder and CTO of Amixtra, is a veteran builder originally from South Korea and now based in Davao. Before Amixtra he was a DevOps engineer at Amazon Web Services, keeping massive systems alive during critical moments. These days he experiments with AI to turn "strange ideas" into practical, automated software.

What the agent did

  • 🔍 Scanned a real codebase for hidden vulnerabilities and risks.
  • 🚩 Flagged security holes earlier in the development process.
  • 🛡️ Showed the exploit vs. defend logic: how the same AI can be a team's greatest threat or its best defender.

The takeaway for teams: faster detection, better safeguards, and fewer problems slipping through the cracks.

Who it was for

Founders and product owners who want safer, more resilient software; CTOs and developers looking to bring agent-like automation into their dev process; and anyone curious to see AI agents doing high-stakes work beyond text generation.

Supporting the mission

Since 2013, Geeks On A Beach has been a non-profit mission for the Philippine startup ecosystem. At this session we announced new GOAB Beach Club member perks, starting with the following session, to help sustain our year-round programming.

Organized by the GOAB Beach Club in partnership with Bayanihan Ventures, curated by Nikhil Antao, Liam James Mendoza and the Bayanihan Ventures team.

Catch the next one. This October we're going deeper with live, production-level AI Engineering Masterclasses. Want every session, year-round? Join the GOAB Beach Club. Questions? Email hello@geeksonabeach.com.
