Mr. Ricardo (Ricky) Banaag is the Chief Executive Officer for DFNN, a technology company listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange. With forty years in the Technology Sector, Mr. Banaag has a depth of corporate experience in developing the ICT Industry in the Philippines. Prior to joining DFNN, Mr. Banaag was President and Country Manager for Intel Microelectronics Philippines, Inc., a position he held or over 16 years. In that role, he was primarily responsible for all of Intel’s sales, marketing, and customer support operations in the Philippines. Previous to joining Intel, Mr. Banaag ran IBM’s PC company, and was managing the entire PC marketing and support operations for IBM Philippines.
Mr. Banaag was also Country Manager for IBM’s Global Network and was attributed for establishing one of the first ISPs in the country. His IBM career span more than 14 years, with his other roles managing the retail, distribution, and manufacturing industries.
Mr. Banaag was recognized as one of the Leaders of the New Millennium in the Philippines Yearbook 2000 Edition. In the same year, he was awarded a Plaque of Recognition by the Office of the President of the Philippines for his contribution and support to the ICT industry. In 2004, he was named by the Metro Computer Times as one of the Top 20 Movers and Shakers of the Philippine IT Industry. He was also named one of the Philippines’ Most Influential CEOs for 2008 and in December of 2009, was recognized as the IT Executive of the Year by the IT Journalists Association of the Philippines.
Mr. Banaag received a BS Industrial Engineering degree from the University of the Philippines in 1982. He was a former president of the University of the Philippines’ Industrial Engineering AlumniAssociation (UPIEAA). In recognition as one of the university’s outstanding alumni, he was accorded the Departmental Award in Industrial Engineering for 2002 by the U.P. Alumni Engineers.

Plug andPlay accelerates over 2,000 tech startups yearly from all around the world in over 20countries in close to 40 global offices, which access a network of over angel investors, venture capital firms, and over 550 large corporations. Since inception, Plug and Play startups have been able to raise in excess of $10 billion in funding. Plug and PlayVentures have over 1,600 companies in its portfolio, with close to 30 unicorns including PayPal, Dropbox, Lending Club, N26, Soundhound, Honey, Flutterwave, among others. In the Philippines, Jojo is Co-Founder of Launch garage, which started operations inMarch 2016. Patterned after Plug and Play, Launchgarage is an accelerator and investor in tech startups in the Philippines and the ASEAN region. Jojo currently advises startups in the country, including PearlPay, Tangere, Taxumo, Magpie, Mober, Galileo, among others.
In addition, Jojo serves as a Board Member and Vice-President in the Science andTechnology Advisory Council to the Philippine government and leading universities, helping them bridge technology entrepreneurs to Silicon Valley. He is also a Board ofTrustee at De La Salle Lipa. As well, a board member at Animo Labs-ICAST of De La Salle University.

In his day job, Joseph de Leon is the Director of Venture Strategy for Gravitas Prime. He leads M&A advisory, capital raises, and market entry partnerships for clients in Asia. They were recently selected to be the buy-side advisor for a Japanese government backed South East Asia fund.
For fun, he does the same thing for startups as a founding member of Manila Angel Investors Network (MAIN).
